In 2023, by a resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, February 2 was officially designated as Ұлттық баспасөз күні. On this very day in 1913, at the initiative of figures of the Alash movement — Akhmet Baitursynuly, Alikhan Bokeikhanov, and Mirzhakyp Dulatuly — the first issue of the newspaper “Qazaq” was published.

Today, domestic print media continue to provide society with reliable information while preserving the best traditions of national journalism. Journalists, editors, and publishers make a significant contribution to the dissemination of knowledge and cultural heritage, as well as to improving the quality of analytical materials.

The event was attended by: Honored Journalist of Kazakhstan, Distinguished Specialist in the Information Sphere of the Republic of Kazakhstan, correspondent of the regional newspaper “Aqtobe” — Ötemis Indira Särsengaliqyzy; Executive Director of the printing house Khabar Service LLP — Zhubanov Zhanbolat Saqypuly; as well as the Chair of the Subject and Methodological Association “Technology of Printing and Packaging Production” of the Aktobe Road College — Zeidaliyeva Ainur Nurgaliqyzy.

In their speeches, the guests spoke about the everyday work of the print media sector and emphasized the role of journalists and printing house employees in delivering socially significant and topical issues to the public.

Participants of the meeting included teachers and students of the Aktobe Road and Service Colleges, library professionals, and readers.

As part of the event, a book exhibition titled “Баспасөз – елдің бүгіні, ертеңі, тарихы…” was presented to the audience. In addition, a video message from the General Director of the “QAZAQ” newspaper, Qali Qambarov, an excerpt from the film “Ахмет.Ұлт ұстазы”, as well as video materials by Khabar-Service LLP and Qazaq Gazetteri LLP showcasing the process of producing newspapers and magazines—from editorial work to printing—were demonstrated.

The meeting proved to be informative and beneficial for students, broadening their understanding of the journalism profession and the importance of print media in shaping public consciousness.
